We started another chart for Marcus. This time it's because he's having a hard time being nice to his brothers. Most of the time I can't really blame him for being annoyed with them. They like to destroy everything he builds and he has a hard time not wanting to pop them in the face. He also doesn't like to share with them. BUT he is 5 and they are 2 and while I hate being the parent that says, "You're older and you know better." It's still true. He is and he does. I felt the negative creeping up in my mothering so we made a chart and now he has a goal. The reward? Chuck E. Cheese, of course! Really, did you think he'd choose anything else?
The chart has led him to think of these funny elaborate scenarios for earning stickers. Example: A few days ago in the car we were talking about the chart and the stickers and he said, "So, in the summer, if we were on a walk to the park and Eli fell down on the sidewalk and scraped his knee and I helped him get up and hugged him and kissed him and told him it would be okay, THEN I would get a sticker?"
Yep. And a hug from your mom.
