My favorite oldest child turned seven on Monday. We celebrated on Sunday so that his grandparents and auntie could celebrate with us. I think this confused him a bit because he kept insisting that Sunday was his actual birthday when we had already explained to him several times that he was born on June 18th--Monday. I guess he just couldn't believe that people can actually eat birthday cake on a day other than their ACTUAL birthday. Yep, welcome to growing up, kiddo.
This year he requested a rocket ship cake. We perused Pinterest together and sort of cobbled a few ideas into one. His current favorite color is red so that is why the lovely seven is that particular hue. The circle is a window he made himself. The crowning glory of the whole thing, though, are the sparkler rocket blasters that we lit when we sang to him. It was fun and awesome. He was very pleased.
Marcus LOVES pizza and I thought it'd be fun if I let everyone make their own personal pan pizzas. We set out an array of toppings and everyone had a great time making their own yummy creations.
Marcus is truly an artist. After he was done making his pizza I asked him if he even liked olives to which he replied, "I don't know." They sure look cool though, don't they?
This year we got Marcus a new bike, a helmet, and a cool bike lock that is a word of his choice rather than a series of numbers. While people were in the kitchen, I snuck out and and rang the doorbell. When he answered it, there was his bike! I think he was a bit nervous at first because it is bigger than his old one, but he and "Wipeout" ( the name on the side of the bike--not the best name in my opinion) are thick as thieves now. He rides it every single day and we've already taken it to the school where he got to try out the lock. I think it was a very happy birthday for this wonderful boy.
Speaking of wonderful boys, I took this little man to the doctor yesterday for his 4 month visit (yes, I'm a little behind). Here are the stats:
Weight: 16 lbs (62nd percentile)
Height: 25 inches (41st percentile)
It looks like he's starting to average out a bit, but I maintain that those are the chubbiest most delicious cheeks and thighs that I have ever beheld and I love them.
