Nesting

The whole nesting instinct didn't really kick in until after the holidays. Suddenly it was January and Tim and I looked at each other and said, "Sure, we're having another boy and don't need to go out and buy baby stuff (we have a ton!) but we still need to make room for another person to live in this house," and so we proceeded to do just that.

We live in a 3 bedroom, 1500 sq foot house. In short, space is a big issue around here. I know we can all fit, but I want us to fit gracefully. Does that make sense? Currently, Marcus and Eli are sharing a room. Marcus was using a dresser for his clothes and I needed that dresser for the new baby, so we revamped Marcus's closet. Tim took off the ghetto brown folding doors and I painted it all white and then Tim added a shelf and I got some cute storage bins to hold his clothes (on sale at K-mart for $2 each!) We're going to add another shelf (like the one we already added but shorter) in that empty space. That way he can store his "I don't want the babies to reach this and break it!" stuff in a higher place. We also moved our old computer desk into his room and moved the card table he was using back out to the garage. He is excited about his room's new look, and I'm excited about all the space now available in his room.

We got the idea for the closet makeovers from a Better Homes and Gardens issue. Tim actually found the idea and it was me who took some convincing, but now I'm so glad we did it. We had the ghetto brown folding doors on our front closet, too, and they were always coming off the track and being annoying so we took them off and I painted the inside yellow to match the hallway and did white trim. We put in a shelf/bench and hooks for our coats. I found these baskets at K-Mart, too, and they were the only ones left so I ordered 4 more online and they'll be here in a few days. I really like how it turned out and it really opens up the space, plus I'm not tempted to just shove crap in my closet and shut the door because I can't!

These carseat covers are all the rage around these parts right now. I see them everywhere I go and I wanted one, too. I looked on etsy but didn't feel like spending money on something I felt I could make for cheaper (and make it exactly like I wanted), so I found a tutorial online and made my own. I splurged on the soft minky fabric, but I love it. It probably cost me about $15 and the cheapest one I saw was around $25 plus shipping. Wahoo!

This new baby is going to be a bit of a nomad for the first few months. He'll sleep in my room, but I didn't want (or have room) for his dresser/changing table, so we'll have a little station for him in our kitchen/dining/office area. This is Marcus's old dresser. I peeled off his stickers and repainted it and added fresh knobs and ta-dah! It looks new again. Isn't the diaper monkey adorable? The Young Women in my ward made it for me. So fun.

On Thursday I will be 37 weeks. I was induced with the twins at 37 weeks and Marcus came all on is own at 38 weeks. It's coming up soon, folks! I'm so blessed to still feel so good and strong. Of course I have my bleh moments (usually in the evenings) and I don't sleep well at night, but overall I feel really good and that is such a blessing. I continue to pray that my delivery will go well and that my baby will be healthy and strong. It was so difficult to have Eli in the NICU for a week and then to have that uterine infection. I just really hope and pray that this labor and delivery is smooth and uneventful. I can't wait to meet my new little fellow!

well done, friend! All of it! so many good ideas! Here's one: Use those ghetto doors as a headboard/footboard for a queen/double bed. Painted however you'd like. Saw it on PInterest. Rad.

I really love the closet shelf idea.
