Things that happened, but I didn't take my camera

Tim took me to see Alison Krauss for my early 30th birthday present. I LOVE her! It didn't hurt that the concert was held outside at the Idaho Botanical Gardens or that the weather was gorgeous or that the avocado sandwich I ate for our lovely outdoor concert picnic was so yummy. I didn't take any pictures because the rules explicitly said NO cameras and I think we all pretty much know by now that I am definitely one who follow rules. I think that rule may be a little outdated though because it seems that everyone and their dog now owns a fancy shmancy Iphone with a camera that is probably better than an actual camera and they were all taking pictures but whatever--I have a Mental picture and it is beautiful. We were a little bit nervous to drive home because it also seemed like everyone and their dog had had a leetle too much to drink. At one point a group of 50+ year-olds started dancing in front of us in a very drunken fashion. It was funny to watch but I couldn't quite pick out who the designated driver might be so . . . Anyway, wonderful night and she has a lovely voice and it was just great.

This past weekend we went to a reunion with Tim's family. It was nice to visit with Tim's sisters and other relations because they are all great and fun to sit around in camping chairs and visit with. The food was also yummy and we went swimming which my kids completely and totally adored. It turns out my twins are quite the water babies. There was a minor incident with some crazy red necks who camped near us and then the next night a group of Mexicans had some sort of loud polka music drinking festival but hey! who doesn't love group camping?! It makes for some good quality sleep, I'll tell you what. I may or may not have had some raging jealousy for the lovely campers that some families brought--you know the ones with beds and bathrooms and quiet. Oh well. Marcus loved playing with cousin Tyler and it always makes me happy to see those two playing well together. I wish they could play together more often.

That same weekend my old roommate, JaNae, got married, and because I was in town I could attend her wedding reception. This meant that not only did I get to see her in all of her wedded bliss, but I also got to see Ben and Aubrey (my other wonderful Ricks College roommate and spouse/pseudo roommate) and their three beautiful girls. We could all hardly believe that it has been nearly 12 years since we lived together. Oh my. We did some crazy things back then that may have involved tights and leopard print . . . Good times.

It was so fun to see you guys! We have had eerily similar camping experiences before. Maybe that's why i don't enjoy it so much :)

Glad we could be together for the reunion. Enjoyed it even with the unexpected events with our "neighbors".
