My builder

I have always been impressed by people who can construct things without directions. It's like they can just see this concept in their head and can transfer that concept into a real thing. I think Marcus was blessed with that talent. He loves to build things and they are always carefully constructed and totally his own inspiration. He has blocks, legos, trio blocks, and train tracks and he really seems to enjoy shaping them into cool things--usually rockets or robots. The other day I was in the living room feeling a little frustrated that his train tracks were everywhere when I just stopped for a minute and looked at what he'd built. It was cool. The track was neat and so were the bridge and the crane thing. I could sort of understand why he screams like a banshee when his little brothers break his creations.

He also loves cardboard boxes. He likes to cut them up and color on them. Whenever we get anything in a box his first question is, "What's in it?" and the second is, "Can I have the box?" This box once held the scooter that Grandma sent him for his birthday. Now it's an awesome robot monster. It's hilarious when Eli wears it--he even makes monster sounds. It really freaks Owen out :)

I think it's great you were able to look beyond the moment (and the tracks) and see your son's talent.
