Marcus's Story

I saw that PBS kids was having a story contest and kindergarten aged kids could enter it, too. I told Marcus about it and he dictated this awesome story to me. Unfortunately, we were in Utah when the deadline passed and life got a little crazy so the story didn't get officially entered into the contest. I'm going to post it, instead, so that Marcus can still feel like his story is being read (and appreciated) by the masses. It's funny to me how so much of it fits in with what is going on in his own life (minus the sharks, guns, submarines and trucks, but he's a 5-year-old boy so there's no story without those things, right?) Anyway, enjoy!

Super Owen
Super Owen likes to eat little smokies. Whenever he ate them he always felt good, but then his tummy really hurt. So he had medicine and water and then he went to a movie theater and then he got popcorn and a drink and a big licorice stick. And then he went home and his tummy really felt better. And then he slept and slept and slept and slept. And then he got back up and got into his car.

And his brother was named Eli and Eli had a humongous truck. And the truck had guns and wheels and a submarine button to make it go in the water. And one time there were sharks in the water and they tried to attack Eli but Eli shot humongous missiles at the sharks that froze them. And then he shot bullets and more missiles and then he shot tons of mustard and that made them even more frozen. Then Owen had a bigger submarine and it had so many big missiles that they were as big as the ocean and then the sharks swam away as quick as they could.

So the brothers went back up to their house and their house was broken by the time they got back because there were bad guys there and the bad guys ran off and Super Owen and Eli saw the bad guys running off and they chased them and the bad guys shot bullets and super Owen and Eli shot bigger bullets and the bad guys got frozen. And then super Owen and Eli got tired so they left and the bad guys got unfrozen and tried to catch them but they couldn't and then they went to Chuck E. Cheese to play games but there were no people and no tokens and no toys and no drinks and no food and then they went back to Old McDonalds and there was no people and no happy meals there either!

Then they went back home. And then their tower was all fixed so they went inside and had dinner. Their mom made little smokies and Eli liked pepperoni noodles so their mom made those, too. Eli decided to have some water and Owen did too, but then Owen changed his mind and had soda. Super Owen shook the soda and so when he opened it it exploded but all the drops went into the cups and the cups were super full so they dumped some into the sink and drank the rest of it and their mom asked them if they wanted to try pizza with pepperoni's and cheese and tomato sauce and they said yes. Then they went to a place where they got tons and tons of pepperonis and also mustard and ketchup because they liked that with pizza, too. After dinner they went to bed and got in their jammies and took a shower and got socks on and their mom asked if they wanted to stay up and they said yes. Then they went to lock their work and then they went back home and got in bed and went to sleep.

The End.

I think he has a real future. I wonder if food will always be a prominent fixture in his writing.

Marcus--That is such a fantastic story. I will be sure to call upon Super Owen and Super Eli when I have a need to blow some sharks out of the water or chase away bad guys! Keep the stories coming! :) Love you!

Phew! I'm tired after all those adventures! That is so fabulous. And, that tooth fairy note is priceless.

Ok that was so entertaining. (Still laughing quietly to myself so don't tell him I'm laughing). Please ask him for more stories and then make it into a book.

Marcus, you are a wonderful story teller. Your father also told great stories when he was your age, but I didn't have the foresight to write them down like your mother did. Love you!
