The night before kindergarten, we had a special "Back to School" dinner. I want to make it a tradition. I made Marcus's favorite meal (homemade pizza) and a yummy cake with lots of sprinkles and trick candles. We decorated the table with our magnetic letters and numbers and drank juice out of fancy glasses--there was lots of toasting involved :) After dinner, we picked out his first-day-of-school clothes and Tim gave him a blessing.

Here he is on his very first day of school. Isn't he precious?

We are about a 15-20 minute walk from school, so we've decided to ride bike/walk to school in the morning and then I pick him up in the van during the afternoon. He was crazy with excitement over the fact that he got to use Daddy's bike lock. It almost trumped his excitement for kindergarten--almost.

In line and waiting to go into the classroom.

His teacher, Mrs. (no baloney) Mahoney. That is Tim's nickname for her. How can you not adore a woman in a denim dress with the alphabet stitched across the chest? She is the perfect kindergarten teacher :) His first day went off without a hitch. He said his favorite part was snack time and he made one new friend named Parker. He is looking forward to playing with the toy cars tomorrow in the classroom.
And guess what? I thought I would cry, but I didn't. Mostly I just felt happy for him because he was so excited and happy. Also, the craziness of the babies keeps me from being too sad over this special moment for my oldest. With twin brothers, I think it is especially important for him to have this thing all his own. I am so happy for him and I think it's going to be a really great year.
