The backpack

The purchasing and wearing of a backpack is like a rite of passage for a kindergartener. It practically screams to the world, "I am a big kid now. If you still think I'm little just look at my giant backpack!" And giant it is, and in Marcus's case it is also magical. See, Marcus's backpack is camouflaged which means that no matter where or when, he just needs to crouch down just so and ta dah! He disappears--he is camouflaged. (This is his new favorite word.)

Where is Marcus? All I can see are some shrubs.

Where is he now? I still can't see him. (I can however, see Eli rockin the hair. Awesome.)

Turns out backpack fever is contagious. Owen (who pretty much idolizes his older brother) thought that Marcus's preschool backpack looked pretty snazzy on him. Really, when he saw Marcus wearing his new backpack, Owen went and found this one and brought it to me. He insisted on wearing it to Marcus's kindergarten sneak peak. Check out Eli's face--he is totally jealous.

I love how well prepared Marcus is for school and the wild! Also, how on Earth are all those books so low and so untouched by toddler hands? I am rather envious.

Owen would have looked much more grown up with that back pack had he not had a binkie in his mouth. Still he has several years to give it up before actually going to school. I think I can speak as I myself sucked my thumb for an extremely long time. I found it easier to hide the fact as no binkie was involved.
Please don't cut Eli's hair until I can see him in person
