A good summer so far

I can't believe it's already July! The summer is roaring by and before I know it, Marcus will be in kindergarten (sniff sniff). We are really trying to make this a great summer and June was fun. We jumped right in (literally) with swimming lessons. My cousin, Rachelle, has a friend who teaches in her in-law's backyard pool. The classes were small, the price was good, and Marcus got to take swim with Kaleb (his best bud/cousin). I intentionally wanted him to take swim with Kaleb because the kid is fearless and I wanted some of that to rub off on cautious Marcus. It helped because while Marcus may be cautious, he is also competitive :) Needless to say, swimming lessons with Lyndsey will be a yearly tradition and when the babies get older, they can join in the fun, too.

We've been enjoying the free events Boise offers as well: free lunches in the park, free kids movies each week at the NICE theater, bike rides on the green belt and around the neighborhood, summer reading (Marcus took me on a lunch date with his winnings!), slip 'n slide (thanks, Uncle Kevin and Aunt Nicole!), hiking Table Rock, the paddleboats, the Farmer's Market, and lots and lots of strawberry and raspberry picking and eating. Marcus has also discovered our Nintendo 64 and it is suddenly getting more use than it has in the past few years :)

The weather has been so mild, too--which I think has really helped my summer time enjoyment. I would probably die if I lived in Arizona. Our foothills are actually still green which is nothing short of a miracle at this time of year.

Happy 4th of July!! I hope it's a great one!

Great picture! I didn't realize that Marcus was taller than Kaleb. Kaleb even has his shoes on and Marcus is taller. I am glad they are buds and it was fun having swim lessons together. I love how Kaleb has his hand on Marcus's shoulder. True buddies! :)
