Field trips

We've been enjoying some pretty cool preschool field trips lately. A few weeks ago, we went to a sheep farm and watched the farmer shear a sheep. Then his wife told the kids about how wool is cleaned, and dyed, and made into clothes. The best was at the end when we got to pet and hold the adorable little baby goats and lambs. So precious.

Maggie, the girl in red, hates farm smells (see her covering her nose?) She is a city girl. Marcus loved touching the sheared sheep. I touched it,too, and it was really soft and you could already feel the lanolin. Neat. That night at dinner, Tim told Marcus about how when he was little, one of his jobs on his grandpa's farm was to help him shear the sheep. Marcus's dad is so cool.

Marcus loves chillin with his preschool homies. Here are a few of them. The two kids on the left go to our church and Maggie (remember? the city girl in red) goes on weekly dates to the library with Marcus (chaperoned, of course by me and Maggie's mom).

Then, just a few days ago we got to ride a cool school bus to a real live big kid school to meet our second grade pen pals!! Marcus had two pen pals: Torin and Jackson, and they were hilarious. Only a few moms were able to go on this field trip and I was lucky to be invited to help out.

Marcus thought these guys were cooler than cool. They took him around to different activity stations and they had lunch together. It was fun to watch him pal around with the older kids and it was fun to watch the older kids mentor the little preschoolers.

A big group photo at the end of our fun morning!

This Tuesday, we are going to the Botanical Gardens. It is so fun having a kid in preschool because it means I get to learn about and do fun things, too!

What Fun! I am glad you are able to go with Marcus. I remember going on most of my children's field trips as well...oh the great memories! and I agree, I learned as much or more than the kids on our field trips. Thanks for sharing your trips with us Marcus and mom!
