We had a wonderful Thanksgiving vacation. Unfortunately, I have no pictures to document this glorious holiday so I will have to paint the images with my words. My words, people. Like Jane Austen, Emily Dickinson, and George Eliot. They didn't have digital cameras with dead batteries and look what they accomplished :)
Wed: We hit the road and Marcus was fabulous. I believe a lot of this had to do with the fact that I packed 100 books and 5000 snacks. We stopped at IKEA and went back and forth about whether or not to get a chair and footrest. Our living room is in sore need of more seating options. Alas, we decided to buy nothing. The hall table I wanted was not even on the floor and when I asked, I was told that it is back ordered through February. I hate it when everyone likes the same thing I do.
Thurs: Tim participated in my dad's Turkey Bowl with Kevin and others. This was actually the first time I've ever seen Tim play football and it was hot, people. I told him it was a good thing that we didn't know each other in high school when he was the star running back because we would have gotten ourselves into some trouble. The feasting took place at Snowbird ski resort and it was beautiful and yummy. All my siblings and spouses were there. Lovely.
Fri: No, I did not participate in Black Friday excursions. I saw my mom's office (she graduates this spring!!) and watched movies. That night we watched the BSU game and they lost. Wailing and moaning were heard by all. My nephew, Tyler, is precious and we loved seeing him again--he took the sting out of our team's loss.
Sat: Met up with one of Tim's old mission companions and his family. We ate lunch at a Venezuelan restaurant (surprisingly delicious) and then spent the rest of the day at their house. That night we met up with my dad, Rhonda, and Emma and went to Temple Square to see the lovely Christmas lights. Marcus loved it. I love Temple Square at Christmas. If you live in Utah then you must go see the lights because someday you may live in Idaho and not have the luxury of seeing them whenever you dang well please. Just a friendly warning, people.
Sun: Attended church with my dad. He sang in a quartet and it was beautiful. Marcus enjoyed nursery to the fullest (he loves nursery now no matter where we are). Then we headed home. Marcus wasn't so great this time because he was strung out from no naps all weekend and also my snack supply was not what it once was. However, we did make it home and we (and our cat, Lucy) are oh so happy that we did. Vacations are fun, but it's always nice to come home.
Hope your Thanksgiving was equally enjoyable!!

KatieRichey-
We too were at Temple Square Saturday evening and in Utah the entire weekend. So sad we didn't know, we would have loved to see you. I also played in a Turkey Bowl but my family didn't go b/c of the frozen tundra. Glad you had a good holiday.
You do have a way with words! Who needs a camera when you have a sister-in-law like you! I will just stop trying to take pictures and let you do all the post commentary for any event in my life. :-)
It was good to see you guys this weekend. Marcus is so awesome! I love that little guy! ok, he isn't so little, but I do love him.
Dear Jane (as in Austen or Richey--whichever you prefer)
I'm writing to you today to tell you how much I love reading your blog. I actually like hearing what you have to say, as opposed to you posting a thousand pictures that look mostly the same: (ie)Marcus posing to the right, Marcus posing to the left. You get the idea (although i do like your pictures as well).
I got the e-mail you sent a couple of weeks ago, and I promise to scratch out a response ASAP. I loved your outline of your Thanksgiving week. Kelly said that Snowbird was ONCE AGAIN gourmet (the only downside being no leftovers). Maybe next time you're in town we can get together.
I agree...Temple Square is a must-see for Mike and I. We were hoping to get Christmas concert tickets this year, but lucked out. Oh well...it always makes it's way to DVD eventually. OK this is getting really long, so maybe I should work on that e-mail, eh?
XOXO Meg
I mean XOXO, Love Charlotte (as in Bronte or Holdaway). Whichever you prefer.
WOW I'm a dork. :)
I had no idea that football/jock guys were your type back in high school. I guess that makes two of us.
Glad you all had a great time, we missed seeing you!
It sounds like a great Thanksgiving. Ours sounded like that too, minus the family, football, driving, and lights. Ok, it really sounded nothing like ours. We had fun though. I miss Temple Square. Glad your Thanksgiving was so fun.
Lee Family: It would have been great to stumble upon you guys underneath the twinkling lights. Oh well.
Alecia: It was great to see you too and we'll definitely miss you this Christmas.
Megan: I'll be waiting on pins and needles for that e-mail. And for the record, I think your blog is great too.
Aub:We scholarly types are always attracted to the football/jock guys :)
Kris: We missed seeing you as well.
Adrianne: I'm glad you guys had a good Thanksgiving too. No nausea? I'm glad you were able to enjoy all the yummy food.
Oh, I wish I had an inkling of your writing talent! :0) You definitely have a way with words. I'm so glad you had a great Thanksgiving. Hearing how much Marcus loved the lights at Temple Square makes me want to take Paige right now. I know she would love them, also.
Katie you are so great. I love to read your posts. You make me smile every time. I am glad that you had a great Thanksgiving. I agree vacations are great but it is so nice to come home. We need to take CJ to temple square. Thanks for the reminder. Maybe this weekend before the marathon week of packing begins!Thanls again for the smiles!
It was wonderful to share some of your Thanksgiving weekend with you guys. We love all of our family and enjoy being with each of you. Sounds like you had a great time with family and friends.
We had fun seeing you guys while you were here. I'm glad you had a good time too. Marcus is so cute we wish we could see him more often! :( love you guys!
