Transitioning
So we've been in our house for about three months now and I came home from the park with this whole weird feeling. Don't get me wrong, the park was fun and all the girls from my ward are nice, but it's just all different and new. I mean, it's a little weird hanging out with all these other home owners with families of 3 + kids. I just feel so young and inexperienced. My new calling is going to be an adjustment. The girls all seem really nice, but most of the other people who were just called have had so many years of experience in Young Women's. Two members of the presidency have served in the Stake Young Women's presidency. They'll be good teachers for me and I understand and am grateful for that, but I'm so used to serving with people who are just getting their feet wet like me. Also, a few days ago Tim and I got our second water bill. Apparently we've been running our sprinklers a little too often. It was big. Of course we'll be able to pay it and everything, but sometimes it just feels like the new homeowner's learning curve around here is a bit steep.

Congratulations on your new calling...the young women will love you! And it does take some getting used to being a homeowner, a lot of responsibility and cost at times! (and a lot of hidden costs as well) But you are both doing well and we are very proud of you!!!!
As the other mother of you two I ditto what Ann says. Owning a home is expensive. Thus the apartment life downtown somewhere, for me.

Katie, when have you ever not done great at something? Never. You'll be great. And as for the learning curve, I've always said your brain turns to oatmeal when you have kids and it's harder to learn. That's just life. Just don't let people see it oozing out of your ears.
