Fruity Snacks: Blessing? Curse? Delicious? Yes.

One of Marcus's most favorite things in the entire world is a bag of Welch's Fruit Snacks. He LOVES them and that is a gross understatement. Lately though, bad things have begun to happen when we reach the bottom of the fruity snack bag. Bad things.

Example: Today, when Marcus woke up from is nap he was a little fussy. It was time for a snack, so I just figured he was hungry and we'd solve that little problem with . . . fruity snacks! Immediately, my son's sweet smile of sheer happiness and joy warmed me as I fed him each bite of delicious fruity goodness until the bag was empty. He made a little noise of impatience that I wasn't giving him anymore, so I showed him that the bag was empty, made gestures with my hands, and said "all gone."

Then, my little angel showed his little horns, threw himself on the floor and had a tantrum.

Buckle up, because this is about the same age we were visited with the beginnings of the terrible two's, which really goes until about 3.

Thankfully, Will isn't a huge tantrum thrower. Although, he has started to say "no" to me and has gotten lots of timeouts recently. Rather than throwing himself on the floor, he would prefer to ignore me. Ah, the joys of motherhood.

Ann- Shocking, I know. :)

Alecia- Now I know where he gets it from.

Aub- Great. The toddler experience is descending upon us. Did I mention that he also shrieks when he gets frustrated, wants something, or just because?

Adrianne- Good times. What do you do for Will's timeout? I don't think Marcus is old enough for timeout yet, but I like to plan ahead :)

I heard that appropriate timeouts should last as long as their age. So, we put Will in timeout for a minute and a half. He hates it! I think putting him in his room is a little much still so he only gets the room when he is really disobedient. Otherwise, we do what Matt and Stef used to do with Winston and put him on our laps and hold his arms for a minute and a half. He hates that too!

The joys of fruit snacks. Savannah did that too. She is also a Welch"s fruit snack snob but the Target brand ones are sometimes acceptable to her.

I read The Happiest Toddler on the Block book, because its all about tantrums, but I dont know how much it worked with her. Good luck! My mom informed me that in our family the 3s are statistically worse than the 2s. Nice.
