A lesson learned . . .

Marcus is my "first born in the wilderness" which means he is our guinea pig child. For example: last year I was sooo excited to dress him up for Halloween. I think a large part of this excitement could be attributed to the fact that once upon a time I worked at Old Navy and they had the cutest Halloween costumes. I loved looking at the little lady bugs and lions and bears. So Cute!!

Well, when I had my little one I thought I would make my own journey to Old Navy to get one of those cute costumes of my once upon a time, and he would look adorable. He did end up looking adorable mind you, but the rest of my story didn't happen quite how I'd planned. Yes, we went to Old Navy, but no there were no more cute costumes. "Why?" you ask in astonishment, "Have they stopped making them?" No, gentle reader, they have not stopped making them and they are still very very cute, but I am a MORON and we went shopping for a costume the WEEK BEFORE HALLOWEEN!! Of course there were no costumes left. Luckily, we ended up finding a sweet little lion costume at Target, but still.

Well, I'm a quick learner and try not to make the same mistake twice, so this year I bought my costume in September!! Hah! Yep, I went with a bunch of girlfriends to Kid 2 Kid on the morning they unveiled their costumes, and I found this funny little frog costume for $6.99. Beat that!! You can't, not even with a stick. Of course, I can't say that I really saved money because I proceeded to buy many many many more items for my little first born . . . but, whatever, I have a costume and Halloween is forever away. Happy Halloween!

Amy-What is Patrick going to be? Am I right in thinking that this is going to be his first Halloween?

It's so refreshing to know that I'm not the only crazy-still-figuring-things-out mother around :)

Katie--I love how well I spell when I comment! :) Patrick's costume is a dalmation puppy dog. And it's technically his second Halloween, although the first time he was three days old and we were coming home from the hospital as the Trick-O-Treaters were arriving. Good thing my mom had stocked us up on candy or there might have been a riot! So yeah. He was just a newborn for Halloween last year!
