Excuse me?
The other day my friend called and asked me if I would babysit her 2-year-old and 7-month-old while she did her visiting teaching. Of course I said yes. I mean, it's so much easier to have a nice visit when you don't have little kids running around and destroying someone else's house or begging to be held or fed or . . . well, you get the idea. So, she came over at the scheduled time with the kids and she was telling me the usual stuff (food, potty signs, etc.) and then she headed for the door. Then she said, "Oh, and if you need anything, you can call my husband because he's home. He wasn't going to be, but at the last minute he ended up at home. I was going to leave the kids with him, but he said, 'No, go ahead and take them.'" Excuse me? What the heck is that about?

WHAT?!?!?!? What the heck is THAT all about?!?!?! I am severely outraged for you. Seriously, I can't even see straight right now. There are just so many levels on whihc that is wrong, wrong, wrong? Did you say anything? I mean, I'm sure you were polite and wonderful but what did you want to say? I have to go lie down or rant to my hubby now.
I guess now you know in advance to ask if her husband is going to be home before you let her stick a foot in the door.
Some people and their husbands....
We had a couple in our ward call us one Sunday night, asking us to watch thier son the following Saturday night. The part that makes this story odd - is that we had NEVER met them. They just got our name off the ward directory. I figured that they must have been incredibly desperate with a funeral, wedding or reunion coming up - so I agreed. When they dropped off thier 2 yr old son (that we'd never met) I asked where they were going. They (no kidding) answered "Oh, we're not sure. Maybe we'll go see a movie or something." Some people.
