Sacrament meeting was especially great and relaxing today. There were no snack bags, no wrestling with little wiggly boys, no whisper arguments between brothers, no explosion of colored pencils. I didn't even have to worry about Zachy because Grandma and Auntie Kay were loving on him.
No, I did not leave my entire family at home. Better! It was the Primary Program!!!
The Primary Program is like mom candy. Cute children up on the stand saying cute things like:
Eli "I choose the right when I tell the truth."
Owen "I choose the right when I keep the Sabbath day holy."
Marcus "When I am baptized next year, I will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
My boys all wore ties and that just added to the overall cuteness of the whole thing. My eyes may have even misted a bit when the two little ones said their parts. They are Sunbeams and this year was their first Primary Program. I was worried about Eli not wanting to participate because he can be a bit of a wild card--one minute wanting to participate and the next weeping and wailing and refusing to leave my side. But he went right up there and when it was his turn to say his little part, he pulled that microphone right down to his mouth and announced it to the world. Owen, who had spent the morning randomly shouting his part to anyone who would listen chose to just breathe heavily into the microphone before jumping (yes, jumping) off of the stool and skipping back to his seat. Silly boy. Neither one of them sang any of the songs, preferring to stare out into the audience and occasionally wave at us. Owen was the only Sunbeam to be seated right next to his Primary teacher. Wise choice on the part of the leaders :)
And my Marcus is looking so big. When did he get so tall and so handsome? He sang and smiled at us and I was proud of the little boy who didn't even dare to go up when he was a Sunbeam for his first Primary Program.
Primary rocks.

I was tickled this year that I got to sick in the congregation and observe the program without being responsible for it running smoothly. That's not entirely true--I did help with the violin kids' musical number. Beats being president any day!
I love reading your blog. Russell is a sunbeam too, but I think he is older than your twins. He knew his part for the program, and all of the songs, and he just sat there with his class kicking his feet, and waving. He wouldn't go up. It was kind of sad. He is my center of attention child, and he has run up to the podium before sacrament meeting starts, and talked in the microphone more than once. You would think he would have jumped at the opportunity to sing his favorite songs, and talk. He must take after me a little after all. Thank you for sharing stories about your boys. They are cute, and mischievous just like mine. I am so grateful to read the insights, and frustrations (rom time to time)with little boys.
It was wonderful watching the boys' Sacrament mtg program. They are all so cute. I can't wait until I can see Zach up there with Owen & Eli. Will Marcus be in YM then?
