It's been a looong week and October was a crazy busy month. PTO things, church things, family things, job things, school things---so many things. Marcus came home early in the month with an assignment that had him track what he ate during the week and helped him learn about food groups. It was a voluntary thing and if he filled it out, he could get a free pass to the nearby corn maze. He worked hard and filled it out each night with no encouragement from me--all on his own--and he came home at the end of that week with his precious pass. Tim and I both knew we had to go. It wasn't an option. He'd worked so hard. But it was so busy and we didn't want to go with the littler boys.
Lucky for us, this particular corn maze (for the very first time since it has been in operation) stayed open past Halloween. Today was the last day. So (finally) Marcus and I headed over to the corn maze and had an awesome afternoon together. We got lucky because today was pumpkin smashing day so after we conquered the maze with a little help from Marcus's smelly toots ("I'm tooting so we know where we've been Mom,") we got to smash a few pumpkins and shoot them out of a cool cannon/gun/thing. I love this boy. I'm so proud of him and all the hard work he puts in at school and at home. I can't think of a more awesome 7-year-old to be lost with in a maze of cornstalks.
