Seven for October

 1.
Family Costume Contest winners at the school Monster Mash
Avengers assemble! Auntie Kay gave us a copy of the Avengers movie and for a few weeks my boys were obsessed. Each morning they would wake up, fast forward it to the final battle scene and watch it. They knew the lines, they knew the characters. They loved it. Of course we had to be the Avengers for Halloween. No question (ha, bonus points if you can name that reference.) As soon as we announced our plan to the boys, they began watching the movie with their own unique running commentary. When Black Widow would appear, they'd announce, "There's mommy." If Thor made an appearance, it was, "There goes Daddy." No longer were they called Hulk, Captain America, or Iron Man. It was Owen, Marcus, and Eli. So funny. Tim and I scored MAJOR parent points. I have to say that I almost peed my pants laughing when I first saw Tim in his Thor costume. The kids at the school Halloween party could not stop staring at him. One little first grader asked him, "Are you the real Thor? Is that the real hammer?" but the funniest was at our ward Trunk or Treat the other night when a little nursery kid that was visiting with his grandparents thought Tim was Jesus. He wanted to hug Tim and everything. Was it the long hair? Whatever it was, it was hilarious.

Well one 5k in October just wasn't enough. I had to do another one. This one was much more casual (there wasn't even a clock) and was totally crazy. I had a blast. My favorite part was the post race parTAY where me and my friends pushed to the front of the crowd where the music was loud and crazy. We were dancing and shouting and then they did a count down and everyone tossed their color powder into the sky. My friend said it was like the "mists of darkness" which makes it sound sinister, but it's true, that it really was suddenly dark and hard to breathe (which again sounds sinister) but the crazy thing was that it was hilarious and fun and unlike anything I'd ever experienced. It's been awhile since I've laughed so hard (well, maybe not awhile--there was Tim's Thor costume . . .) So so fun.

Last July, the Boise Temple closed for extensive renovations. Now it's open for public tours. It is beautiful! We went with Grandma when she was visiting and they said that on the first day of the open house at least 10,000 people toured the temple. Amazing. On Wednesday, I was able to go again with Tim and my boys. It isn't often that I get to be in the temple with my children, so when the opportunity comes, I seize it! It was wonderful to sit in the temple with my little family. I am really looking forward to having a temple close to home, again. We've missed it.

I got to go on a field trip to the Birds of Prey Center with Marcus. I love watching him with his friends, especially his best friend, Caleb. These two love each other so much. It is really adorable.
5.
Grandma came to visit! Twice! In one month! It was awesome! While she was visiting, we went to the pumpkin patch and picked out some prize pumpkins (but only ones the boys could carry--that's the Richey rule for two reasons 1. Tim can't carry 3+ big pumpkins 2. pumpkin patch pumpkins ain't cheap) and rode the tractor, and ate donuts, and played on the giant tires, and petted the cute little farm animals. I love the annual visit to the pumpkin patch.
6.
I love this picture for so many reasons. Here they are in no particular order:
1. Eli
2. Eli's awesome hair
3. Beautiful fall colors
4. I love the color yellow.
5. Eli's smile
6. Little boys will always find a stick on a nature walk. Always.
7.
Tim got a new job! He's going to be the Controller for Peterson Motors. He was approached by one of the partners at the firm he used to work for who told him about the opportunity and how he thought it would be a good fit for Tim. Tim met with Peterson's CFO and then the owners and felt really good about the move. It was hard to tell his boss at his current job because it has been such a good place for Tim and the people have been really kind, but this new job is going to be a good opportunity and puts him closer to some personal career goals he has set for himself. AND it is only 2 min from our house which means Tim can come home for lunch every day because who wouldn't want to come home to some of this action?

Right? I'm sure that's the real reason why he took the job.

Tim really is beautiful with that hair. I hope he used the cool Thor voice at the school party. I just sent The Avengers back to Netflix because I've been punched in the face one too many times by a certain 3 year old. I'm glad you made all your boys' wildest dreams come true. You are a cool mom.

I didn't know that Tim got a new job!!! Holy cow - I am totally out of the loop! That is great for him. We just bought our Escape from them, actually.

There was no doubt that you would win the best costume award...it was pretty awesome! Just wait - Tim's picture will be in your inbox. :)

Your family is just too cute! We love sitting behind you guys in Sacrament Meeting - the boys are just too funny! :)
