Thank you

Dear woman in the line behind me at Costco,
Thank you for noticing that I had two little boys in the cart who were antsy to be done with the shopping and ready to be eating their hotdogs. You saw that I had a third little boy, a baby, in a front pack and you noticed that it was a little tricky bending over to pick up the boxes of milk and diapers. Thank you for talking to my boys and offering to help me load my items onto the conveyor belt. You told me how you'd been there before and understood how it can be sometimes. Your kindness seemed to spread out from you and spilled onto the cashier and the others around us. Suddenly, everyone seemed nicer and had smiles. Thank you.

Dear mother at swimming lessons today,
Thank you for offering to hold my baby when you saw that he was tired and ready for his nap. You could tell I was a little frazzled holding him on my lap while trying to get the boys out of their wet suits and into some dry clothes. You rocked him to sleep and told me that it was a great way to get your "baby fix" and when you gave him back to me I was able to put him right into his car seat with no tears and he went right back to sleep. Thank you.

Dear woman in the public restroom,
Thank you for letting us go ahead of you in line. You saw that my little 3-year-old was dancing around and right away you smiled and waved us ahead. You saved him an accident and me some laundry. Thank you.

Love,
Katie

You know, I'm so grateful for nice people that see being a mother as something wonderful and find ways to encourage other mothers rather than judging or asking questions like, "Why do you have so many children?" I'm glad there were women around to help you.

I remember so well how hard it was when the the boys were all three and under. Now that they are all older it is so nice and so much easier. I definitely have compassion on you because I know it can be so hard. But, it does get easier!

Christlike love & compassion--what wonderful examples for us all. Glad you had good Samaritans there to help you!
