We planted our garden! Once upon a time, I worked in a nursery and learned a valuable lesson that I have carried with me ever since: Don't plant your garden until after Mother's Day. I am guessing this has to do with the fact that generally the danger of frost is past etc. Anyway, good advice or not, we follow it in this house. Mother's Day also means "Plant your garden" weekend. This year we planted: tomatoes, peppers, basil, oregano, pumpkin, peas, and green beans. The raspberries are going strong and it looks like we'll have a bunch this year. Our strawberries are looking pretty shabby--sad. We'll definitely have to read up on how to better grow those because we LOVE strawberries around here.
Speaking of Mother's Day. I requested a massage for my gift and enjoyed a wonderful massage on Friday. I also got a hanging flower basket from my boys and a lovely letter from Marcus filled with questions he had to answer about me. It was funny to see what he wrote. For example: Did you know that I am only 30 inches tall and weigh 100 lbs? Also, my favorite food is "keesh" (quiche) and I don't like brussel sprouts.

The babies were in heaven on Friday because they got to go to Marcus's school TWICE. The first time was in the morning for a special first grade singing program and the second time was that night for the first (hopefully annual) Free Family Movie Night at the school. We watched Cars 2, relaxed on blankets with pillow pets, and ate lots of popcorn. It was a fun time.5

This morning went pretty smoothly until about 10 minutes before we were supposed to leave for church. That was when Tim realized his scriptures were not where he'd left them the night before (and he was teaching so he really needed them). We looked everywhere but never could find them. I finally just told him to use mine and we headed out the door. Of course because it was Mother's Day and because we were late we had to sit in the back on the chairs. I don't like sitting back there because I feel like my kids are even more irreverent and it just feels extra hot and squishy. Anyway, all the boys were being loud and I said to Owen, "Let's get a book out of your backpack to look at," I lifted his backpack to unzip it and thought to myself that it was extra heavy and the kids must have loaded up on the books when I discovered Tim's missing scriptures! I guess Owen is picking up on the fact that we take our scriptures to church but sheesh, I wish he'd said something earlier.
