So, Independence Day is only a few days away and I found myself thinking of how my little two-year-olds happily attempt to celebrate their own form of independence every single day. On most mornings we have cold cereal for breakfast and Owen and Eli usually have a two toddler sized bowls. They watch me pour the cereal and the milk and seem to know the drill. The other day, I was in another room doing something while they were eating breakfast and I came back to see this lovely display of independence. I imagine the "conversation" went something like this:
Owen: (looking up from his bowl of cereal) "Eli, I see that you need some more cereal, Mom's busy so I'll just go ahead and take care of that for you. Let's see, here's the cereal and the milk . . ." (grabs cereal and milk off counter).
Eli: "Thanks, Owen. Let me go ahead and put the bowl on the floor for you so that it's easier to reach." (moves bowl to floor)
Owen: "That's great, Eli! Now, I know that you like milk, so let's make sure to give you plenty!"
Mom: (comes in and sees huge mess--looks a little frazzled) "What?!!! You guys, NO!! That's a mommy job!!"

That's how it goes most days at our house. Usually more than once.
Katie, is all I have to say is that you really take these instances of 'independence' with great stride. I honestly can't stop smiling...just because I love those little guys!
hahaha! That is soooo awesome. I'll have to tell you the story about how emery pooped on the floor and explained to me...I poop on floor :P it's a good one
Still laughing.
