Once upon a time, I realized that I was turning 30 this year and decided that I needed to run a 5k before that big event occurred. So, in February, I started training and today I DID IT!!! I ran in the Race for the Cure 5k this morning with some friends and had two goals 1. Run the entire time (no walking!) and 2. Run it in 30 min (or less, obviously). Well, I did run the entire time, but I clocked in at 32 min. Hey, I'm still happy with a 10 min mile. I feel so happy to have set this goal and accomplished it. I'm totally going to do another 5k. Also, I lost 10 lbs while I was training. That's always a nice perk :)
We were team Breathe. Some of us ran and others walked. We all rock!
We ran in honor of another friend, Karalyn Glass, who is battling breast cancer right now. She's doing really well and all of her treatments are working even better than they could have imagined. (did you notice my pink nails--I totally did them for this run!)
Amber (friend on left) and I were celebrating because this was the first 5k for BOTH of us. My other friend, Melissa, the one peeking creepily over my shoulder :) , is a seasoned runner and put us all to shame with her 25 min time. She is my Yoga instructor, too, and can do a head stand and various other cool poses. She's pretty much amazing.

OMG that is awesome. I know exactly how you fell so I am also running a 5K next week. i think that is called mid-life crisis.
Congratulations Katie!! I don't think that I have ever run the whole thing, even when I was in cross country and training for it. So you are amazing! And congrats on the added benefits too! :)
Taci: Good luck!
Alecia: I want to look good in your wedding pictures :)
