You'll never guess what time I took this photo. Sure, they're in their pajamas so maybe that narrows it down to bedtime or morning time or on a bad mom day--anytime :) Next, look at those smiling happy faces. Don't even try to use the state of Eli's hair as a clue because it ALWAYS looks like that--the white man's Afro. Really, on the days that I do style it with product, you can literally watch it grow bigger and bigger as the day goes on--like a chia pet (remember those? are they still around?) So, any guesses on the time?
Midnight!!
About a month ago, Owen climbed out of his crib and when we were in Abq he climbed out of his pack 'n play. I ordered a crib tent because I am ABSOLUTELY not ready for these boys to be out of their cribs--oh my, I don't even want to talk about that possibility and how our lives will change when that does happen. Yikes. But then, he stopped. He didn't climb out of his crib anymore, so while I had the crib tent, I never put it up. This past week, he started climbing out at the end of his naptime and I thought Well, time to be putting that crib tent up . . . yep, didn't do it. It all came to a head on Monday night while all were sleeping and the house was dark. We heard our bedroom door creak open and a little figure stood in the doorway, too small to be Marcus's silhouette.
It was Owen.
I snuggled him and took him back to his room where Eli was of course wide awake. I rocked them both and headed out and this time I heard Owen pop right back out of his crib and giggle as he headed back over to say hello to Eli. I went back to our room and told a very irritated and tired Tim that we needed to put up the crib tent NOW. And so amidst angry frustration from Tim (those things are complicated to put together and it really doesn't help when you're tired) and giggling late night adventurous joy from the babies this lovely beauty was created . . .
and Owen's climbing days were over.

Love it! And would you believe I saw an Obama chia pet at rite aid the other day??
I love these. When I nannied they had one. It worked great until she learned how to unzip the tent! I hope that is a while for you. I love the hair. THe boys are so adorable and big. I love the halloween post as well!
NICE. I've always thought those were invented by an overtired mother. Probably at midnight!
I saw a Spongebob Chia pet at Target yesterday.
That hair is crazy. We use lots of conditioner as Savvy's main styling product and it helps a lot, but naps and car seats still ruin it.
yay for crib tenting at midnight! At least it wasn't camping, right? (shuddering thinking of it)
Hi Katie-
Just wanted to drop in and see how you were. I know it's kind of been crazy with everything going on with my sis/and your brother.
I want you to know you're still my bud, and I know Kelly feels the same way. I know she has been really sad that no one in your family has called her to see how she is doing. I realize it's hard for everyone...just know we're still here, same old people and nothing will ever change that. Peace. xoxo
Yes they still have chia pets--I bought a breast cancer one a few days ago. Maybe you should stick one in his stocking. Love the tent! Thought about one for Gabby and will probably need one for Haylie. Let me know where you found it.
Is all I have to say is that these two definitely have some fun personalities...just not at midnight in your eyes I'm sure. :)
I'm sure Owen is brainstorming how he will be able to outsmart the tent. :)
Sorry, midnight was my first guess. I actually put Suzanne in a bed so she could get out (and in) When she wakes up from nap she comes on out and finds me. And yesterday the best thing happened, I said wheres Suzanne? and I found her asleep on her bed.
