Owen and I had quite the adventure today. He got his adenoids taken out. For a long time now, since he was born pretty much, Owen has had a very snuffly nose. We call it his "stalker breathing" and it is pretty much just part of the Owen package. Well, at his 18 month visit, I talked to his pediatrician about it and he referred me over to the ENT people. For a month we also tried a nose spray that cleared up the runny nose but not the stuffiness. So on Thursday we met with the specialist and she said he had HUGE adenoids and it was no wonder he couldn't breathe. So we gave the go ahead to move forward with surgery.
That brings me to today. This morning Owen and I headed to the hospital for his outpatient procedure. The nurses and his doctor and all the other people that I had to talk to were really kind and sweet with us. I know it is a minor surgery when compared to all the surgeries in the world, but they treated us with great care and respect. Owen had a grand time playing with the toys and having 100% of mommy's attention before the surgery. He probably though that aside from being hungry (he couldn't eat before the surgery) this was the best day ever. Now after the surgery, well, that was a different story altogether. He was none too happy. The poor guy really was angry as he woke up in post-op. He kept shouting at me and the nurses and he wanted all of his little wires, monitors, iv, and hospital gown GONE! It was hard to see him like that, but eventually he calmed down and fell asleep while I rocked him in a chair. He's a trooper, that one.
Anyway, we're hopeful that the surgery worked and that the Darth Vader Stalker breathing is gone for good!

Poor kiddo! I can't wait to see the boys on Sunday! I feel like I haven't seen them for almost a month.
Poor little guy! I think watching little ones go through something like this is the worst. I hope he feels better quick and that it takes care of his breathing!
You are all troopers--Little Owen has been very blessed to have such loving care from his family and others.
I hope he's feeling better! Such a sweet little face... :)
Glad everything went well...those things can be scary sometimes.
Anyways, I haven't been around to check blogs in a while - just catching up on yours. I loved all the great pics you go from Oregon! Beautiful!
Hope you and your fam are doing well! xoxo
