Richey Family Vacation 2010: Oregon Coast

We're baaack!! And with lots of pictures, too. Yep, it's going to be just like one of those awesome vacation slide shows that people used to watch back in the good ole days. Boring for some and awesome for others--so enjoy all or some or none or whatever--let's get to it!

On the way to the coast (9 lovely hours) we stopped in The Dalles. My brother, Kevin, and his wife, Nicole, joined us on our vacation this year. They even invited Marcus to ride in their car on the way there. Awesome!

This is at a fish hatchery outside of Portland. Nicole knew about it. Not only did it have cool fish, but the grounds were absolutely gorgeous! I forced all of the boys to stand by this amazing hydrangea bush for a picture. What good sports :)

Fish hatchery.

This is the amazing house we stayed in. There were 4 couples and 10 kids and it wasn't even squishy. Thanks, Julie, for finding such a great place.

Adorable.

I love these boys.

Marcus had a blast.

These two loved getting their feet buried.

This guy got a little more buried.

Yep, we spent an entire afternoon burying various member of our group. It was awesome.

We toured the Tillamook cheese factory and ate ice cream BEFORE lunch (now that's a vacation!) So yummy.

This is Cape Meares Lighthouse. Beautiful views from this place.

Near the lighthouse is the cool Octopus tree.

See, I was not kidding about the gorgeous views.

Nicole said, "He looks like he's been rolled in cinnamon and sugar."

We spent a day driving down to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The drive took a little longer than we thought and everyone (except Kevin) fell asleep. We call this "Napping, Vacation style."

Some starfish and other cool sea creatures at the aquarium. Crowd favorites were: watching them feed the sea lions, the jelly fish, the glass tunnels--especially the one with the sting rays and sharks.

I love this guy.

Canon Beach. We spent the entire day here and it was sunny and beautiful.

We made sure to get there when the tide was low so that we could play in the tide pools and see all the cool creatures.

When you dress these two in matching clothes, you get all kinds of smiles and comments from the people around. They really bring everyone who sees them a little bit of joy.

My friend, Julie, also has twin boys. We created a way to make sure nobody got lost or into too much mischief :)

This was their favorite thing to do: roll around in the sand. They loved it.

Here are the kids minus the other twins and sweet baby Trevor.

This picture was taken in Portland at the Rose Gardens on the way home. It just makes me laugh.

That looks like an awesome vacation! I need to get out to the Oregon coast at some point in the future. :) Congrats to Marcus also on his upcoming start to Kindergarten. I started school on my 5th Birthday, so Marcus will start exactly 25 years after I did!
