The aroma of motherhood

The other day we went to the local elementary school for lunch. They serve a free lunch there everyday during the summer and it is so much fun for Marcus because that is the "big kid school" he will be going to this fall. Anyway, midway through lunch a pungent aroma let me know that Eli was poopy. I ignored the smell and waited for everyone to finish eating (we were with our friends) with the idea that I would change him in the van before we all headed over to meet up with another friend at the park. Things pretty much went that way until I took off his shorts in the van and realized he'd had a very stinky explosion and his clothes were covered in the mess. No park. Marcus was steamed.

After we got home and everyone was cleaned up and the boys were down for naps and Marcus was in his room for his afternoon quiet time, I kept smelling the stinky smell Eli had been putting off when he was waiting to be changed. I figured it must just be remnant smell from having changed a blow out diaper. I probably washed my hands 5 or 6 times to get rid of the stench but nothing really helped.

Later, my cousin stopped by to get something and it was she who finally pointed out to me the source of the smell. I had a huge smear of poop across the front of my shirt--I hadn't even seen it! No wonder I was smelling so lovely :)

I'm just glad it was her at the door and not some random stranger. "Hello, welcome to my home. Please don't mind the poop smeared across my front," sheesh.

Love it! For me it's white curdled spit-up on every surface of my upper body.
