Girl weekend!!
Tim has had to travel and work late a lot in the past few months which has been difficult for us for a number of reasons. For me, it has been very draining--a kind of slow drain that leaves my patience wearing a little thin (okay, very thin) and my body generally tired (okay, exhausted.) In short, my boys are wonderful, but I needed a break! Lucky for me, I have an awesome mother in New Mexico and a loving husband and super sister-in-law here---that meant GIRL WEEKEND!!
On the shuttle ride up to the Acoma Pueblo
I spent a long weekend in New Mexico with my lovely mother. NO CHILDREN ALLOWED. It was awesome and just what I needed to refresh, regroup, and recharge. Oh, and gain weight--oh my, we ate some good food--lots of it (but not the country fried tuna, right mom? Ha ha)
This is Marcus's favorite picture. I knew it would be. This one is from Old Town Albuquerque. We went there a few times because it was so nice and only 5 minutes from my mom's super cute and trendy apartment in downtown.
My mom and I are tourists when we are together. We pack in the sights and do as much as we can. We'd both heard of Acoma, and so we decided to make the drive out there and see it ourselves. It was a beautiful place and we had a neat experience there.
What do you think? Does the Southwest suit me?
This picture was taken at one of the many restaurants we enjoyed. I am so blessed to have my family and I'm just as blessed to have more family to escape to when I need a break.
The Duke City highlights in no particular order (see what a good tour will do? now I know that Albuquerque is nicknamed the Duke City) 1. Old Town Ghost tour (spooky!) 2. Food food and more food 3. Acoma and the Hawaiian group singing acapella in the church--beautiful 4. the tram (longest tram in the world, people) 5. meeting my mom's "friend" 6. watching my mom teach Gospel Doctrine class at her ward/church 7. Having a "reading" not so much my fortune told, but something like that (Sasquatch!! That one is for my mom). Learning at this reading that in a former life I lived in Russia. Okaaay. 8. No children 9. the museum 10. Making our guide blush on the Old Town tour.
How fun! The southwest definitely suits you. That hat picture is really cute. I'd like to hear more about this former Russian life... is there something you're hiding? Are you (or were you) Anastasia? ;)
Wow, your hair is getting long. it looks cute. I'm glad you got a girls weekend, I think every mom needs at least 25 of those a year but somehow we don't get them. Tell your mom Hi.
