Home at last
Little Eli came home with us on Tuesday night (yep, ahead of schedule) and we could not be happier to finally have all of our new family under the same roof. The NICU did a great job and the nurses were all super nice, but I was sooo glad to say goodbye to that place--so glad.
Unfortunately, as soon as Eli got better, I got worse. The entire week that Eli was in the NICU I felt good and my recovery went very smoothly for which I am very grateful. My health made my daily visits to see my baby boy possible. However, on Tuesday morning (one week after delivery) I woke up with terrible abdominal pains. I went to my doctor that day and he immediately sent me over to have a scan on my abdomen--his fear was my appendix. Thank goodness it wasn't that, but I was still diagnosed with having a uterine infection. He gave me the option of being hospitalized so that I could have my antibiotics adminstered to me via IV by the nurses, or I could go home and a home health nurse would come and show me how to administer my own medication via IV. I couldn't imagine Eli coming home and me going to the hospital, so I opted for the second option. So, yes, I have an IV in my hand and every six hours I administer a 30 min dose of antibiotics. Craziness, people. Luckily, my mom is still here through Sunday and she has helped me with my meds. I finish them up tomorrow morning--yippeee!!
I just think it is interesting how my pregnancy was so great and my postpartum has just seemed to be one thing after another. There have been some hard moments, but I am so grateful to have my boys all together at last. And honestly, I would rather it be me who is sick than Eli, Owen, or Marcus.
Bring on those hospital bills, baby!! I'm pretty sure we met our deductible :) ha ha

I'm so glad everything has turned out ok for the most part. I still can't believe you had over 13 lbs of babies inside you. Has anyone given you a medal yet? Good luck with everything yet to come. We're praying for you guys.
Oh my goodness! Marcus looks all grown up next to his baby brothers.
Aren't you grateful for insurance? Your babies look so beautiful and Marcus looks like he is SO happy to have two little brothers. Feel better soon!
They are so sweet together.
Take care of yourself.
Yay! I'm so happy they're home! What adorable little boys.
Congratulations - your boys, all three, are so cute. I hope you get feeling better soon. I am now going to have to bite my tongue anytime I feel like complaining about things that come with a new baby. You have two times the right to vent!
I am so glad you were able to stay with your family. I didn't know you needed an IV...I am very glad your mom is still there. We love you guys so much and your boys are very beautiful--all three of them!
We're so happy for you! Congrats again and again and we can't wait to see you and your (huge) family.
Glad that things went well with the delivery. NICU is not a nice place, even if it's just for a few days. I'm really glad he came home so early, too.
Lots and lots of love!

Yippee they are both home. What a great picture of your three boys. I love it. They are all so adorable. I love Marcus's huge smile. I hope you are feeling better.
I'm sorry I've been so slow posting my congratulations, but I've been trying to keep up with your blog. Anyway, I'm so glad your boys are home and healthy and I hope you get that way soon too.
Wow! Those boys are beautiful. I'm so happy things are going so well for you guys. Nice Job Katie! Holland thinks they are "oh, sooo cute". Congratulations!
