Eli Bryon Richey

Our little Eli Bryon Richey was born shortly after his brother at 1:14 pm on November 25. He weighed in at 6 lbs and 4 oz and measured 19 inches long. Eli had some trouble maintaining his blood sugar levels and so he had to go to the NICU for an IV a few hours after he was born. He continued to have trouble holding his numbers where they needed to be so the doctors ran some more lab work and the results showed that he had an infection. They then put him on antibiotics. They are working on weaning him from the IV and he has to run a full course of the antibiotics before he can come home. They have told us that he'll most likely be able to come home on Wed, Dec 3. We are so excited for that day. Until then, Tim and I go in every day to see him and I am pumping lots of yummy mommy's milk for my sweet boy. He is doing a really good job. He loves snuggling and his fingers and he sleeps with his mouth open--so cute. The people at NICU have been so wonderful and kind. Eli has lots of little wires, but Tim and I have grown accustomed to them and we change his diaper, feed him, and hold him all the time.

This is the bed Eli sleeps in at NICU.

He has lots of little wires and it makes changing and dressing him a bit awkward. You can see his little IV on his hand. We can't wait until he's free of all his little "attachments."

Getting his first sponge bath.

This is the first bed that Eli was in at NICU. He was here when I first saw him and it really made me scared and sad. Tim and his dad gave Eli a blessing and that really helped me to feel better. Shortly after, he was moved to a regular bassinet.

This is Eli right after he was born (well, not right after, but Tim forgot to take the camera into the Operating Room--no worries). He is such a precious little boy. We love our Eli!!

I loved seeing Eli even for just a few moments on Tuesday evening. He is such a beautiful little guy. I am glad you are able to take Owen to his brother each day for family bonding. It won't be long until you are all together as a complete family. I can't wait to see Marcus with both boys. Eli continues to be in our prayers as always.
