You've probably noticed, if you check this blog regularly, that I've been reading The Prestige by Christopher Priest. It was interesting. Anyway, apparently everyone in Boise wants to read this book but like us are too cheap to actually buy it so the waiting list at the library is very very long. We actually first got on the list when we lived in our apt. and we only just got the book. Needless to say, the library wants the book back ASAP so that the next person on the mile long list can have it. This means that a person can only have the book for 14 days and there are absolutely no renewals so don't even try.
It's sort of a long book and normally this time span wouldn't really have posed a problem for either one of us but there was just one little hitch. We were both reading it. At the same time. Yep, the book had two book marks and we felt a little surge of pleasure when we passed the other up. He he he, I know what Angier is going to do and you don't. Ha ha, I bet the next few pages will make you stop liking Borden. And so forth. We're nerds, whatever. We deal with it :)
Because we were sharing the book and the past few days have been quite busy we suddenly found ourselves on the eve of having to return the book and still quite far from actually finishing it. I suggested that Tim read for an hour and then we switch and I read for an hour and so forth but then he said, "Why don't you read it to me like when we're going to Utah." Part of me thought, but I can read quicker in my head. But then I saw that this might actually be a nice thing to do together on our Sunday evening so I agreed. We started at 7:30 and we finished around 10:00. Towards the end the book got really creepy so I adjusted my voice accordingly.
Me:"I held my past life in my arms, but I no longer knew what might be standing behind me. Something was though." I read this sentence and others in a low foreboding voice. I thought it helped add to the overall scariness of the last few pages.
Here's what Tim said: "Why are you reading it like that?"
Oh, well. At least he noticed.

That's Tim for you! Can you email me your recipe for that soup you made on Saturday? I really loved it. Thanks for letting me crash at your place and all that. It was a really great weekend!
Josh and I have done that. It is great to read with each other.
I read to Mike when we go on trips. He doesn't let me drive for very much of the trip--I think it's because he likes me to read to him so much.
I like the movie. Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are excellent, nothing like Batman v. Wolverine doing magic.
Alecia: I'll send you the recipe. It was so great to see you and thanks for all the yummies!
Tammy: Which books?
Adrianne: I think Tim loves being read to too. So do you read those computer manuals to Mike? :)
Luke: Ha ha. I hadn't thought of that.
That seems really funny that so many people want to read that book at the same time. Didn't the book come out before the movie, because that movie's been out for awhile. My mom recommended the book "The Good, Good Pig" by Sy Montgomery to me, so that's my next read.
I love watching you two together and thanks for your colorul "picture descriptions" of your life together. You two are a perfect match for each other! We have a wondertul family!!!
