The Last of the Mohicans

On Saturday I was still feeling pretty weak and yucky so I camped out on the couch all day. We don't have cable or dish so I was watching anything good--which wasn't much on a Saturday afternoon. For some reason, we get a Spanish station so I flipped over to it and saw that they were showing The Last of the Mohicans dubbed in Spanish. There was nothing else on and I really like that movie so I started watching. Even with the Spanish I could still follow along having seen it before and the music was still wonderful and the scenery amazing. Tim came in at one point and started watching it with me so occasionally when I felt like they were saying something really important, I'd ask him to translate for me. Even in Spanish, with me only having a minimal understanding what they were saying, the waterfall scene was still fabulous. "Stay alive. I will find you. No matter the distance, no matter how long. I will find you." Sigh. How romantic is that? After the movie was over, Tim and I started talking about the book. I guess he read it a long time ago and I've never read it. Well, he headed right over to the library and picked up two copies so now we're having our own little book club. It's pretty awesome. Last night as we were reading before going to sleep our conversation went something like this:

"I definitely think that Indian leading them is bad."
"Yeah, me too."
"Hey, have you got to the part yet where they meet up with Hawkeye?"
"No, don't tell me what happens, I'm almost there."
"What chapter are you on?"
"Hey, what do you think that crazy screaming noise is? Do you think the bad guys are going to find their secret hiding place?"
"That fight scene was awesome."
"I know it's not like the movie, but I still wish Cora and Hawkeye would hook up."

Husband/wife book clubs are so great. I definitely think I married my perfect match.

You guys are perfect for each other. I am really glad Tim married you, you were his first girlfriend who would actually talk to me and want to be my friend! So you were my favorite from the very beginning. I am glad you are all feeling better.

I can't believe you were watching it in Spanish...too funny. You must have been bored. It is a fabulous movie, however (that's why it made it to my top 10 list).

However, I was totally not into the book. It was NOTHING like the movie, and way too "manly" for me. I never even finished it. (Which for me is the equivalent to walking out of a movie--something I NEVER do). Maybe I'm just a party pooper like that, but I felt that for once the movie was actually MUCH better than the book. I guess that wasn't the point of your blog, though.

I agree: It's nice to be married to someone who shares common interests with you. Sounds like you and Tim are very well matched.

Daniel Day-Lewis. *sigh*

P.S. We missed you at the shower- although you have a valid reason for not attending. It was nice to finally meet your mom (I've heard so much about her), as well as your aunts and cousins. You have a great family!

Katie! It's me, Lisa, from the BYU 93rd ward! Steff reminded me that you have a blog. You seem like you're doing well, and Marcus is getting so big! Do you still have the same gmail address? I'm going to try sending an invitation to my blog to it. It's fun to check up on you! Oh, and just so this commment related to the blog, I've never read that book or seen the movie. Maybe I should...

Alecia: Thanks and it was great to talk to you the other day. We're very curious to see why you wanted our address . . .

Megan: I saw the pics from the bridal shower. It looks like it was a lot of fun. I'm bummed I missed it. That book is okay so far but I'm taking a little break to read Eclipse :)

Lisa: Yipppeeee!!! I'm so glad you found me. My e-mail is still the same and I'd love a link to your blog. How are you?!!!
