Last Sunday, the Relief Society president came up to me with this huge smile on her face. I asked her what she was so happy about and she said that she had really good Christmas news that was going to really help our ward.
Great. What?
"A ward in Eagle has decided to adopt our ward for Christmas!"
Excuse me?
"Well, their ward doesn't have any families who are struggling financially, so each year they find a ward with a lot of families who have welfare needs and they adopt several of the families in that ward."
Holy crap.
"I guess they adopted our ward last year, too. Here are some papers where the families can write down a wish list and clothing sizes. Isn't that great?"
Yep, great.
So, a bunch of families in my ward are going to have a better Christmas than they could have had otherwise. That makes me very happy, and while our family wasn't chosen to fill out a Christmas wish list for this fabulously generous and financially savvy ward, we still have a wish: Someday we want to be in the Eagle Ward where the streets are paved with gold, the children are always polite, and there's a chicken in every pot.

That's great. Speaking from personal experience, I know those families will be so appreciative. By the way, how's the house hunting going? We got your card today--what a cute family!
Adrianne: We haven't exactly begun house hunting yet, more like house looking. We probably won't begin the serious stuff until after Tim starts working and we get a real idea of our income.
Oh, and thanks for the "cute family" comment.
