Our News (no, I'm not pregnant)
So tonight is the first night my book club is meeting and I'm really excited, and I really hope that things go well and the girls aren't all like, "We don't want to read any of these books!" I've organized things so that we have a day and an evening club. I think I'm going to go to both. Look at me, I'm using my degree! ha ha ha. But as for the news, I got to thinking that I've told you all about Marcus and his latest adventures, but I haven't told you what Tim and I are up to. Thus, the purpose of this post. Tim is taking the first installment of the CPA exam on Saturday (yes, THIS Saturday). This whole week BSU is off for Spring Break and where is Tim? He's at school studying. He has an internship lined up for this summer (beginning May 29th) for a company called BMHC. He'll we working in their internal audit department. The good news about this internship is that they are paying us really well and it will be really good for his resume. A girl who worked with them last summer is now working at Deloitte. The not so good news is that Tim will be gone every other week for 4 days because he'll be traveling around the country to their different offices. Some more good news is that BMHC is paying half our rent throughout the summer . . . which leads me to what's going on with me. The apt. we're living in now does not have air conditioning and we'd really like to move to a nicer place (with a dishwasher) so when we got the internship it was like a green light. So, we've been looking around and thinking that we'd move sometime in May. Well, on Saturday I got called to be the second counselor in the Relief Society (Yep, back in Relief Society Lisa and Steff) so now we're trying to find a place in our ward boundaries. I'll keep you all posted, but for those of you who have visited us, we're looking at that big complex on the corner called Oak Park. We'll keep you posted. Oh, and just so you know (Alisa and mom) my first funeral is tomorrow. And so it begins . . .

I wonder what you will do with yourself when you have a calling in, say, Primary. Good luck. I loved catching up and looking at all your pics, I haven't checked your blog in awhile. Congrats on the internship, I hope you find a nice place to live.
You are so dedicated to look for an apartment in your ward boundaries. Good luck with the funeral. I wish I could come to your book club. I'm sure it's going to be lots of fun!
Ann-the funeral was really nice. I didn't even really know the sister and I was getting teary. She sounded like a wonderful lady. I was also reminded of one of the greatest parts of this calling . . . the leftovers!! Tim will be thrilled when he gets home and sees a huge hunk of german chocolate cake.
Jenny Lynn-thanks. I checked out your new Florida apt. It sounds really nice. I'll let you know what we find. Right now we have a few things in the works.
Alisa-I was really nervous about the book club, but now I am so excited!! It will just be so great to discuss books again. The other women seem really excited too. If you have time to read you can by a pseudo-member. Our day club is reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and our evening club is reading Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson. Have you read The Fountainhead? I'm curious to know what you'd think of it.
Our book club is reading the Secret Life of Bees this month Katie and I just read it and cried my eyes out the last half of the book. But I really liked it a lot. I think I need to own that one.
I read it last year and really liked it too. We found a copy of it at a garage sale. You'll have to let me know what your group thinks of it and I'll do the same.
I'm going to have to read the Fountainhead now that it comes so highly recommended. I manage to read a few books, as you know, but I'm trying to be really focused for these next few weeks so that I can finally get this thesis done. And I think this thesis is causing me to lose my mind. Did that happen to you? I can't remember simple things anymore and it's becoming such a struggle to feel like I'm writing anything intelligent. But if all goes well, I'll finish my third chapter this week. Yay!
Alisa-I can't believe you're almost done!! When do you defend? Make sure you schedule something fun to do right after your defense (it gives you something to look forward to). I definitely understand the losing the mind thing, but it is sooo worth it when you have that degree on your wall and that thesis on your shelf (or in your computer if you file electronically). Best of luck!
