Have you been to the Oregon coast?

In just a few short weeks, we will be heading out for our yearly Richey Family Vacation!!! This year we are spending a week with wonderful people in a beach house in Rockaway on the Oregon Coast. This vacation has been in the works for a LONG time and I am so excited that it is now almost here. Yippy!! Now, I have never been to the Oregon coast before and I would love to hear from those who have--What's fun? What's not? What cannot be missed? I checked out a guide to the coast book from the library, but I really want to hear from you real life people with your real life experiences. Thanks!

It's a great place! My number one can't-miss is the Tillamook cheese factory (in Tillamook). If you like cheese, you will like the cheese factory! It's a fun tour with tasty samples, a cafe to buy ice cream and food, etc... lots of interactivity for kids. Good times.

Other than that, when Jeremy and I were there (which was before we had kids) we spent most of our time just walking on the beach and driving and taking pictures and eating fish. Things would probably change now that we have kids. But we'd still go to Tillamook. :)

Have fun!!

I love it....We've driven up from the south (Brookings) to around Portland area. It's such a peaceful drive full of so many different ocean views and bridges. Our favorite beach was in Lincoln City and there's a glass beach about 2 hours south (I think....it may be in Northern Cali) Also, the sea lion caves close at 5pm. We missed it by 10 minutes and had been driving for 7 hrs to see it. But, the view there is amazing....you can actually see the curvature of the earth.Seal Rock was our sloppy seconds, but still cool. I would live in Oregon.

We've been to Newport but not up were you're going. My brother and his family really enjoyed the Tillamook factory.

You were there once when you were not quite three for a Tew family reunion. It was cold and we went to the thrift store and bought us all warm clothes. We loved it. One of my favorite places ever was in the Cascades on the way. It is called Clear Lake and it was so beautiful. I've always longed to go back.

Brian and his family have gone there many times and we actually went to Seaside a couple Christmas' ago. It was so fun. Cannon beach, Tillamook, Newport Aquarium are all great places to go. When you go to the beach, rent the sand bicycles and have races on the beach. Awesome and the kids LOVE it!! Have fun!

Thanks, everyone! If it's possible, I'm even more excited now for this vacation.

Jami: What are sand bikes? I'll have to google that one, it sounds cool.
